Also (random anecdote) I found out about this book in the best possible way!! This grown woman was cracking up while reading it aloud (to other grown-ups) in the aisle of Target. I mean the woman was completely captivated and just laughing and totally loving the book-- not a kid in sight as I remember it. (Clearly she and I should be best friends because this is totally something I would do.) Anyway, after that I had to see what all the fuss was about.
Well, you see, there's this panda and he has these doughnuts and he's giving them away….kind of.
He keeps offering the doughnuts, and then refusing the give them away. What's with that?? This little lemur has it figured out apparently.
The panda gives him the whole box!! What's the difference you ask? Hmmm, it just might have something to do with the magic word (of course I don't have a picture of that illustration, sorry.)
I happen to love the fact that this is kind of a manners book without really being one, you know? I mean there's the grumpy panda with a bunch of doughnuts and then bonus, he wants you to be polite! Love it! Also, the reason the panda is getting rid of the doughnuts is pretty much the best! That's probably my favorite part, well that and the panda's facial expression because it's just awesome!
Please, go out and find a copy. Happy reading!
