A House Is a House for Me

Here's one of those gems I'd never heard of but just happened upon one day.  A House Is a House for Me by Mary Ann Hoberman (remember The Seven Silly Eaters ), illustrated by Betty Fraser (1978).   Its one of those books that's beautiful to look at AND to read.

A hill is a house for an ant, an ant.
A hive is a house for a bee.
A hole is a house for a mole or a mouse

And a house is a house for me!

A web is a house for a spider.
A bird builds its next in a tree.
There is nothing so snug as a bug in a rug

And a house is a house for me!

It goes on and on, and it's just so much fun!!!

My favorite line goes with that birthday picture shown above...

A book is a house for a story.
A rose is a house for a smell.

My head is a house for a secret,
A secret I never will tell.

We read it last night before bed, and of course had to make our own special house this morning... maybe you should too!  Thanks for stopping by
