So, to help you get ready, each Wednesday we'll be bringing you 'Santa Book Lists'... This week we'll begin with a list for the BOARD BOOK lover in your life, be they 3months old or 33 years old! (A 33 year old board book lover? That's me!! Did you say that on purpose?) Yes, yes I did.
Any board book by Eric Carle
(and there are a lot). BUT in particular The Very Busy Spider
, The Very Quiet Cricket
and (of course) The Very Hungry Caterpillar
(which Santa should bring my family because our copy is in such bad shape it really needs replacing).
The Scanimation Books by Rufus Butler Seder are full of magically moving pictures that Waddle
or Gallop
or Swing when you turn the pages! It's amazing!
Every little library should include Rosen and Oxenbury's rendition of We're Going on a Bear Hunt
. The thing is, no childhood is complete without this classic romping adventure; and the illustrations are to die for.
Dear Zoo is a MUST OWN in my opinion! All my girls have loved this book (and I love it too!!)
Babies love looking at babies. I totally want to get my hands on Global Babies
Take a classic lullaby and add Marla Frazee illustrations, that's an instant winner. Her version of Hush, Little Baby
would be a great addition to any nighttime routine!
At age 2 Cuteness was obsessed with all things Duck & Goose
. These sweet and simple books are perfect for little ones to read along with you.
And then there's the BabyLit board books
. They are coming out with more all the time. I must get Sherlock Holmes
, Dracula
and A Christmas Carol
ASAP (are you listening Santa?).
Honestly Whit and I could go on forever when it comes to board books. We are total suckers... make a great picture book into a board book and even though we already own the picture book version, we'll want it in board back too. (For sure!) It's a condition we have. (We're getting help for it.)
Are there Board Books on your Christmas wish list? If there weren't before, I bet there are now!
Happy Christmas Shopping!!!
