I don't know how things go at your house, but around here we are happy to embrace Halloween as long as it is about 0% scary or frightening... yes 0%...my kids don't like creepy stuff and I don't like them being scared of things and getting out of bed in the middle of the night to tell me they are scared of those things.
So, give us costumes and candy and pumpkins but feel free to leave all the spookiness out of it. Guess what, Vampirina does just that! She's cute and sweet and oh-- she also happens to be a dainty little vampire.
The books are written by Anne Marie Pace and illustrated by LeUyen Pham. In each story, Vampirina gives other little vampires tips on getting through real life situations (like ballet class and stage fright or hosting a sleepover).
She's spunky and positive and she knows how to make the best of things. Plus there's silly vampire-ish/monstery puns and funny ideas captured in the art (like where her friends fell asleep there on the bottom right.) Rainy and I both enjoyed them and we did so completely nightmare free! Yay!
And guess what?? Danzel and her girls love Vampirina too! So much that she posted about it today also---we're like the accidentally in sync blogs these days, it's fun!
Happy harmless haunting!
