Big Pigs and Sock Dances by Randy Briley

Hey everybody!  I am super excited to tell you about this book today because from the second my kids first read it they were smiling and laughing and asking to read it again! (It does mention a gorilla that toots!) What can I say? They looooove it!
Big Pigs and Sock Dances is written by Randy Briley. Randy is an artist by trade and is new to the children's book scene. His illustrations are playful, unique and amusing! And, if my own children's delight is any indication, his rhyming silliness, and childlike perspective will take him far!!
Don't worry, it's not all toots and undies! (Here' comes a completely odd discussion.) You know how sometimes stuff gets too potty-ish and then before you know it your kid is non-stop, "Poop!!! HAHAHAHA!!!" And you reschedule all your plans so you don't have to take them in public for like 3 weeks until they can use another word...like hello... or thank you without adding the word poop to it. (Please say I'm not the only person in this boat.)

ANYWAY-- this is not one of those books! At all!! You'll read about furry woodchucks, kite flying, loving parents, and much more. Actually, I think it's got the perfect ratio of irreverence and sweetness! It's like Ruth Krauss meets Tim Burton. Can you picture that?  Great combo, right? And Randy Briley's pulling it off right here!!
It really has become a favorite in our house! Below is Cuteness reading our copy, she's actually got it down pretty good. It's adorable to listen to her 'read it!'
If you'd like to get one of your own, it's available in paperback on CreateSpace. You can also find it in paperback or kindle version on Amazon. (It really is a steal right now!)

As I said, Randy Briley is fun, new voice in the world of children's lit! If you're looking for something sweet and light that will get the kids giggling, this is the book for you! And you don't even have to take my word alone!! Melissa is over a Julia's Bookbag jumping for joy about this book too!!

Happy reading!
