Wave (our little bits of paradise)

The weather has finally improved around here.  Spring is just around the corner and we've enjoyed several days in the 50's and 60's.  Yesterday we decided to get out all of our beach mementos for a trip down memory lane and to redecorate for the warmer seasons.

Whenever we travel somewhere there's sand (be it beach, lake, or dessert) we always bring a bit home with us for our collection.  Yesterday we lined up all of our sand and remembered where we found it.  Sand is so beautiful and it comes in such fantastic variety.  I love our sand collection.

Now for the fantastic library book find of the week:

Wave by Suzy Lee.

Where do you stand when it comes to wordless books?  I know not everyone loves them.  This one is worth looking for, take my word for it.  Inside the front cover it reads: 'A sunny day.  A curious little girl.  A playful wave.'

Suzy Lee's charcoal and acrylic illustrations are SO filled with expression and feeling... it doesn't need words to tell the story.  In fact, words would certainly detract from this book.

Ok, so it made me want to take a trip to the beach.  Which is easier said than done from my land locked location in the world.  The closest ocean beach is a long ways away.  We do have several lovely lakes pretty close by, we'll certainly spend time at them when the weather turns hot.

Until then, we can dreamily look at our sand collection.
