When Pictures Book DO NOT Reflect Reality....

Hi, so remember last week Robyn posted about a cute, true to life book that Bonnie found for her at the library?  Well, today I wanna tell you about 2 pretty darn funny books I found, but I want the record to show that I am not saying these books reflect reality.

See, they are about the husband/wife helpfulness dynamic which is always fairly hilarious, but I want to be clear that the men in the books are not like my husband, okay? This is not a man-basher post!! I just want you guys to see these. So funny!! (And maybe both out of print, check the library.)

The Man Who Kept House (by P.C. Asbjornsen and J.E. Poe, illustrated by Svend Otto S.) was in the fairy tale section of my library. In the story, a man comes home and is apparently unhappy about how his wife has kept the house that day.  So, they agree to trade jobs.  Hilarity ensues for him...

Hurry, Hurry, Mary Dear (by N.M. Bodecker, illustrated by Erik Blegvad) was in the picture book section. (It's from our fall list, by the way.)  It's a poem and again, so funny with just the perfect illustrations (which I hope you can get a feel of from the pic below.)  Oh don't you worry buddy, Mary's in plenty of a hurry...
They make me smile! They make me laugh! They make me thankful that I have a helpful husband! Good stuff!
Happy reading!
