My Art Book, Animals

I'm a sucker for project books... and I've passed that character trait down to my children.  They LOVE project books.  In fact Bibs spends more time looking through project books than he does regular picture books.  That's why I was excited to see DK publishing's newest My Art Book focusing specifically on animals in art.
The book is beautiful.  Filled with lots of fantastic art work, great information with fun facts about artists and (of course) spin off art projects for kids!

We've already spent some time creating our own masterpieces.  In fact, inspired by this book and this post  we're putting together enough artwork to put on our own art show.  My kids are more excited about the impending arrival of the art show than they are for Halloween.  I kid you not.  Every morning they wake up asking what our art lesson will be on today.  It's been fun!

Here are a couple of examples from the book.  As you can see the first spread features the artist/ artwork.  The second spread suggests an idea for an art project of your own.

As I said, this book focuses on animals in art, in 2011 DK published My Art Book featuring masterpieces throughout art history along with project ideas.  Though I haven't seen that one in person it looks wonderful as well.  Happy creativity!
