The Princess of 8th Street

I don't know about all of you, but around here we are always on the look out for a new princess book.  I mean, three little girls? I traffic in pink sheets, sparkly nail polish, and princesses. Because of this, I was excited to receive a copy of The Princess of 8th Street written and illustrated by Linas Alsenas.
I love how this book is written! It uses all these fancy royal terms like bed chamber, thoroughfare, and scoundrel to describe the life of a little princess who is actually a resident of the big city. (The taxis are called golden carriages! Perfect.)
One day on an outing with the queen, Princess Jane gets thrown into a game of tag and she just can't catch anyone. (Have you been there? I have!) Even when she's down and discouraged, she still remembers she's a princess. And, it's this attitude that gets her through in the end.
The playground if a rough place!  Kids don't hold back and I think knowing who you are and being comfortable with that carries a child a long way. In fact, in Jane's case it even helps her find a new friend.
Power to the princesses!
Oh, and the little maidens in my kingdom approve too...
