The Kings and Queens of Story Hour

Summer time = story hour starts up again in my little town.  We have lots of fun getting together & there's an AWESOME group of big kids who help out.  They plan activities, cut, glue, fold (etc) & read stories to the little ones.  I just LOVE the interactions.

Here's a glimpse of what we did a couple of weeks ago... a day fit for a KING!
King Bidgood's in the Bathtub by Audrey & Don Wood (possibly my favorite book ever)
The Dragon Who Liked To Spit Fire by Judy Varga (awesome oldy but goody)
The Princess and the Pea illustrated by Paul Galdone (beautifully illustrated classic, thanks Vanessa for getting my in the know about Paul Galdone)
Where the Wild Things Are by Marice Sendak (The king of the wild things!  Hello!)
The Frog Prince Illustrated by Paul Galdone (another beautiful one)
A Good Knight's Rest by Shelley Moore Thomas & Jennifer Plecas (hilarious and delightful)
King Jack and the Dragon by Peter Bentley, Illustrated by Helen Oxenbury (One of my NEW favorites, check your libraries for this one folks!  You'll be glad you did!)

That's the rundown of the books we read.  Below you can see all the king & queenlyness... pay close attention to the crowns!
Here's where all the kids had a hey day with glitter.  THERE WAS GLITTER EVERYWHERE!!!  It was fun.  We just folded the construction paper the long way (hot dog) cut it in two, taped the peices together then cut out scallops and designs.  Next we decorated... decorated... decorated!
Big kids and little kids working together!  Isn't that fantastic?
It was a little bit crazy, a tremendous amount of glitter and lots of fun.
