Happy by Mies Van Hout

I love spending time at Julia's Bookbag, written by Melissa.  I love it because Melissa has this incredible ability to find super great stuff out there in internet land to share with all her readers.  Every Friday I look forward to her Cool Stuff I Like lists.  A few weeks ago she featured this bookHappyby Mies Van Hout.  Right then, when I saw the cover, I knew this was a book I had to get my hands on.  (FYI, we're obsessed with all things fish at my place.)
Mies Van Hout's ability to capture emotion in both fish & text is incredible!  I wish I could get prints of each page from this book and hang them all over my house.  The emotions!  The contrast!  The bright colors!  The fish!

The format of the book is set in two page spreads.  Each fish on one page with the description word on the other.  Here's a small selection:

Aren't those fantastic?  (Don't you just LOVE that shocked fish?!?)  My kids had a ball guessing the emotion each fish represents.  You can see more from this fabulous book here at Lemniscaat USA (publishing company).  While you're there check out all the other picture books they have on the presses... looks like incredible stuff!
