The (Actual) World of Eric Carle

Do you ever read a book and wonder what led to that idea.  Not in a crazy way, like "WHAT were they THINKING!" (You know, like with Hunger Games.) But more like, "Hmmm, how'd they come up with that?"  Well, that kind of thing happens to me all the time, so I was excited when I found this...

Flora and Tigeris a collection of short stories from Eric Carle's life.  Its not really a children's book, but it is an interesting and insightful peek into why he writes and creates what he does.  I like knowing what makes authors tick; it brings the books more to life for me.

How do you like your authors (does that make them sound like an entree?) shrouded in mystery or open and accessible? (Or, with a side salad-- just kidding!)  Happy Reading!

PS- I read somewhere that one of the comments that led to the writing of this book was something along the lines of, "Are you ever going to write any real books?"  Someone said that to Eric Carle! Can you imagine?  That person better never show their face around this blog or they're going down! We've got a lot of books and we know how to use them!
