Hellooooo Mo!

Well it's February! And, do you know what that means? What, you don't?  It means we have a new feature author this month.  OH YEAH!!  (Before I go on, I have always wondered if people know what I'm saying when I type yeah or yea or ya or yay.  So, this is yeah, meaning slang for yes-- Oh yeah-- it's like Vector on Despicable Me.  Anyway-- more on Whitney's English Language Dictionary at a later date.)  OH YEAH!! We are so pumped about this month because we have a fun and fantastic author to showcase!
Now, we happen to have nothing but love for Mo! We think he's a genius, he cracks us up, and we believe the world of children's literature is a happier place because his books are in it.

He got his start on Sesame Street (actually won 6 Emmys there!)  And while he dabbled in television writing for a bit following Sesame, he found what I believe is his true calling when...He wrote Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus in 2003 (which won a Caldecott Honor in 2004)  He has also received a Caldecott Honor for Knuffle Bunny: A Cautionary Tale and Knuffle Bunny Too: A Case of Mistaken Identity

Before I go on (and as if 6 Emmys and 3 Caldecotts Honors weren't enough).  We have discovered that some people do not share our unfeigned love for Mo!  (Is it you?  Are you crazy?-- Have your head checked  He rocks!)  Sorry, I get carried away when I'm defending my authors.

Anyway, if your not Mo's biggest fan, I hope you'll stick around this month and read some of our thoughts about him.  You have got to see Mo through our eyes and through the eyes of our children

You've got to give Mo (and Pigeon and Elephant & Piggie and Cat the Cat) a chance to get hesitant readers excited about reading.  You've got to give them a chance to turn the world of "I Can Read Books" on it's ear and make beginning readers laugh out loud instead of toss the books in boredom.

I'm hoping you are with us and you love him!  I'd hate to lose readers over a feature author.  Tell us in the comments if you can't stand him and we'll try to talk you down.  If you're on the fence, we've blogged about him here and here
And, if you want a good laugh or want to learn mo' about Mo...

Okay people, I promise we have a fun filled month ahead!  We love an author who doesn't take himself too seriously!  We love an innovator! WE LOVE MO! (We're like his groupies or something? I don't know.) Happy reading all the same!

PS- We are currently experiencing technical difficulties with our comments! Ugh!  If you'd like to comment, I believe you have to click on the post title so that magical internet will take you to the actual post page and you should be able to comment there. Sorry!!!!

Also, the font and spacing of this post might appear completely jacked up-- I think that's because it is and I can't fix it.  Double ugh!
